The specification for the materials used will vary from project to project; however here is the most common set with a few of the options available. This is not exhaustive so it is always worth talking to us if you have a specific requirement. We have probably done something similar before, and will be able to advise accordingly.

The fixed glazed panels on the walls include:

  1. European, seasoned, joinery grade oak cover boards. Options:
    • air dried or kiln dried depending upon availability
    • band sawn finish to match the frame, or planed finish
    • other materials can be used such as Western Red Cedar or Douglas Fir
  2. Durable softwood packers
  3. Stainless steel screws
  4. EPDM black rubber dry glazing gasket
  5. 0.55 mm stainless steel flashings where necessary. Options:
    • copper is available for specific projects
  6. Toughened safety glass, low-E, warm edge spacers, argon filled IGU’s with a centre of glass U-value of 1.2 w/m2k. Options:
    • various solar control options
    • self cleaning glass
    • almost any of the glass options available from the main manufacturers
  7. All labour, travel, subsistence etc.

The joinery units include:

  1. European, kiln dried, joinery grade oak. Options:
    • painted soft wood
    • client supplied joinery
  2. Toughened safety glass, low-E, warm edge spacers, argon filled IGU’s with a centre of glass U-value of 1.2 w/m2k. Options:
    • various solar control options
    • self cleaning glass
    • almost any of the glass options available from the main manufacturers
  3. Door frames are installed with doors hung on 3 no. stainless steel heavy duty roller bearing hinges. Other units such as windows are hinged to suit.
  4. Joinery units are pre-oiled with 3 coats of danish oil or other as agreed. We recommend that they are cleaned and re-oiled on an annual basis to maintain their looks and protect them.
  5. We have a recommended set of ironmongery that we normally supply and fit (details available on request). If a different set is required then the client is responsible for sourcing them and installation will be re-priced accordingly.
  6. Doors and windows do not have trickle vents unless specifically asked for in writing.
